Coups et blessures autour d’une piscine : 45 jours de prison pour Siméon Gomis
On July 21, a simple argument over a swimming pool turned into a physical assault. Real estate agent Siméon Gomis was sentenced to 45 days in prison and ordered to pay 300,000 CFA francs in damages to the plaintiff, Amy Colle Sarr.
It all started when Mrs. Gomis threw Mrs. Sarr's children's toys into the pool. Reproaches flew, insults followed, and Siméon Gomis, alerted by his wife, arrived. Instead of easing the tension, he violently slapped Mrs. Sarr before dragging her to the ground, inflicting several injuries, all the while shouting, "Why are you talking to my wife like that?"
In court, the prosecutor denounced Mr. Gomis's "irresponsible" behavior.
"A good citizen separates two women who are arguing, he does not raise his hand against a woman!"
The magistrate had requested a six-month prison sentence, while the civil party's lawyer was claiming 10 million CFA francs in damages.
The defense, led by Oumar Sène, pleaded for leniency, pointing out the initial provocation of Gomis's wife and considering the amount requested disproportionate.
According to a note from the trustee, Gomis, who lives in Nord Foire and does not live in the residence where the events took place, had already been reported for violent behavior.
