CHAN-2025 : Un journaliste sportif guinéen rentré précipitamment de Kampala arrêté à l’aéroport de Conakry
In Guinea, sports journalist David Tchopn Bangoura was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, as he stepped off a plane at Conakry airport. He was returning from an eventful stay in Kampala, Uganda, where the local Syli National team is playing the group matches of the African Nations Championship (CHAN-2025).
According to "Le Djely", which reported the information, Mr. Bangoura was arrested by the authorities who then took him to the gendarmerie premises.
A spat over an old controversy
It is not yet known what the journalist is accused of. The police may want to question him about what happened in Kampala.
Indeed, the sports journalist allegedly had a heated argument with coach Souleymane Camara, known as "Abedi," on the eve of the Guinea-Niger match. The spat stemmed from a long-standing controversy surrounding the alleged departure of the coach from his former club, ASM. Abedi allegedly criticized Bangoura for spreading rumors at the time without verifying the information at the source.
The two men almost came to blows. The journalist later declared that he would return home to preserve Guinea's image. At least, that's what "Le Djely" reports.
