Magistrature : Les premiers mots du nouveau patron de l’UMS
On August 9, 2025, at the General Assembly of the Union of Magistrates of Senegal (UMS) in Dakar, Cheikh Ba, chamber president at the Dakar Court of Appeal, was elected president of the organization with 146 votes out of 273 voters. He was ahead of Mouhamadou Ndiaye Sarr, UMS communications officer (58 votes), and Abdoul Khadir Khaoussou Diop, outgoing secretary general (76 votes).
Welcoming this "overwhelming confidence," Cheikh Ba described his election as a "challenge." He pledged, alongside his office, to begin work on Monday, August 11, to address the challenges facing the Senegalese judiciary.
"We want a judiciary that stands strong, united, and supportive, and that assumes its responsibilities to the Senegalese people, in whose name it delivers justice," he declared. He emphasized the need for serenity, responsibility, and accountability. His platform emphasizes the well-being of magistrates, dialogue with other institutions, and a justice system that complies with the Constitution and the expectations of citizens.
