Burkina Faso : Une usine illégale de sachets plastiques condamnée à une amende de 30 millions FCFA
The Public Prosecutor of Faso at the Ouaga I High Court, Blaise Bazié, announced on Saturday, August 16, 2025, the closure of a clandestine factory producing plastic bags. The company was caught in the middle of manufacturing, in violation of the law of December 30, 2024, banning these products.
Its foreign managing director was arrested and brought before a court. The company was fined 30 million CFA francs, ordered to destroy the seized stock, and ordered to permanently close the factory.
The Prosecutor praised the actions of the Environmental Police and urged the public to report any activity related to the production or sale of plastic bags. The law, in effect since January 9, 2025, gave stakeholders six months to comply.
