Inondations au Nigeria: des centaines de maisons endommagées dans le nord-est
Torrential rains caused flooding that damaged hundreds of homes in Potiskum, in northeast Nigeria, local authorities told AFP overnight Friday to Saturday.
The Emergency Management Agency in Yobe State, where the town is located, said 200 houses were damaged.
According to an official of this agency, only "a few injuries" are to be deplored but most of these homes are "uninhabitable".
A local official, Dauda Magaji, told AFP that up to 500 houses were damaged.
The phenomenon was exacerbated by the fact that some water drains were blocked, these two sources stressed.
Nigeria is regularly prone to flooding during the rainy season, which runs from June to November.
In mid-June, hundreds of people died in floods in Mokwa, in the west of the country.
