Africa50 : huit ans pour transformer une idée en moteur continental de financement des infrastructures

Eight years after its inception, Africa50 has grown from a quasi-confidential structure with a single employee to a 100-person organization managing more than $1.4 billion in assets and a portfolio valued at $8 billion. This rapid evolution illustrates the capacity of an African initiative to mobilize capital at scale for infrastructure, while asserting its autonomy from traditional external financing.

For Akinwumi Adesina, this success goes beyond numbers. It demonstrates that an African model can design, finance, and execute structuring projects, thus meeting the continent's growing energy, transportation, and technology needs. Africa50 now embodies a concrete example of efficiency and credibility in mobilizing local and international resources.

The challenge now is to expand this momentum. Adesina calls for increased pan-African and international partnerships to address an estimated $170 billion annual infrastructure gap, while strengthening economic integration and continental sovereignty. Africa50 is thus positioning itself as a key catalyst for African development, capable of transforming the promise of infrastructure into a tangible engine of growth and regional cohesion.
