Détournement d'engrais : le gérant du magasin de Malem Niani et ses complices condamnés
Six people, including the manager of the Malem Niani fertilizer store, were arrested on the night of July 21-22 for trafficking in state-subsidized fertilizers. According to L'Observateur, which relayed the information, the operation, led by the Koumpentoum gendarmerie, resulted in the seizure of a truck containing 50 tons of 15-15 fertilizer.
The investigation revealed a network involving several individuals, including manager N. Camara, in contact with A. Guèye, the person who ordered the goods. OG Dramé and A. Touré acted as intermediaries, while driver TA Baldé claimed to be acting on instructions from L. Ba, based in Dakar. The alleged owner of the fertilizer, S. Kroumah, presented an invoice issued by a company in Mbour, the same source continued.
Tried at the Tambacounda court, S. Kroumah and L. Bâ were acquitted. However, reports the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group, which attended the hearing, N. Camara, OG Dramé, A. Guèye and A. Touré were sentenced to two years in prison, including one month in prison, and a fine of 200,000 CFA francs each.
The defense had argued for everyone to be acquitted, citing a lack of evidence.
