Météo : deux épisodes pluvieux majeurs attendus au Sénégal entre le 8 et le 16 août
In its latest bulletin, the National Agency for Civil Aviation and Meteorology (ANACIM) announces the arrival of two significant rainy episodes across the whole of Senegal between August 8 and 16, 2025.
The first wave, expected from August 8 to 10 after the rains recorded on Friday, will bring light to moderate rainfall, sometimes thunderstorms, to the south (Kolda, Sédhiou, Ziguinchor), the center (Kaolack, Fatick, Kaffrine, Diourbel, Thiès, Dakar), the east (Kédougou, Tambacounda, Matam) and the north (Louga, Linguère), with possible extensions towards Podor and Saint-Louis.
The second wave, expected from August 12 to 16, will be more intense and widespread, particularly affecting the center, east, and south of the country, with sustained rains in Kaffrine, Fatick, Kaolack, Diourbel, Thiès, Dakar, Kédougou, Tambacounda, Kolda, Sédhiou, and Ziguinchor. The rest of the country will experience light to moderate rainfall.
The source reports, however, that a relative calm is forecast for August 11, with possible showers in the south-central, south-eastern and Casamance regions.
