OFNAC : Mohamed Niang plaide pour une gouvernance exemplaire
Compliance specialist Mohamed Niang sees the changes announced at the National Office for the Fight against Fraud and Corruption (OFNAC) as a decisive opportunity to strengthen the fight against corruption.
For the guest on Radio-Senegal's morning show, "Salam Senegal," the institution, often associated with political affairs, must broaden its scope of action and intensify its prevention efforts in all sectors.
Among the reforms considered major, he cites the call for applications for the appointment of OFNAC members. "It's a major reform. When it comes to corruption, you need an inclusive, representative, and credible entity," he insists.
For him, this opening is a sign of a political will to update and revitalize institutions that have existed for several years.
The public governance enthusiast believes, however, that the success of these reforms requires profound change. This means modernizing operations, expanding scope, digitizing procedures, strengthening oversight, and making recommendations tailored to social reality.
"Governance is key. It is the leaders who must give OFNAC strength through their own leadership," Mr. Niang said.
Referring to repression, he pleads for sentences commensurate with the damage, applied without complacency, in order to set an example at the highest level of the State.
"Reforming OFNAC also means giving it the means to act effectively and independently," he concludes.

Pour le fonctionnement, il faut apporter des amendements sur la fin de mandat d’un membre en lui permettant de rester en fonction jusqu’à la nomination de son successeur et ce pour éviter un vide
