Goudomp : la traversée Sandiniery-Sédhiou paralysée depuis l’accident d’un camion
On May 31, 2025, a spectacular accident occurred at the Sandiniery pier in the Goudomp department. A truck loaded with cement and iron bars, suffering a mechanical failure, partially tipped into the Casamance River while boarding the ferry from Sandiniery to Sédhiou. More than two months later, the river service remains at a standstill, immobilizing the ferry on the left bank.
The suspension of this crossing, which is only three kilometers long, forces motorists to take a bypass of approximately one hundred kilometers. This detour causes significant losses of time and money for users. The truck, whose rear remains submerged in the waters, has not yet been refloated due to a lack of adequate resources.
During the incident, the heavy goods vehicle, already positioned on the ferry, suddenly rolled backward due to a loss of brakes. The rear of the vehicle plunged into the river, while the cabin remained attached to the boat. While there were no human casualties, the material damage, including the partial loss of cargo, was significant.
