Grand Magal : Le bilan s'alourdit avec 26 morts, dont 22 dans des accidents routiers
The death toll during the 131st Grand Magal of Touba continues to rise. According to the latest figures released this Thursday, August 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. by Commander Yatma Dieye, Head of the Information and Public Relations Division of the National Fire Brigade, 26 people have lost their lives among the 747 victims recorded since the beginning of the pilgrimage.
270 traffic accidents in four days
The special detachment of the National Fire Brigade, deployed in the holy city of Touba and its surroundings to ensure security and medical coverage of this major religious event, has carried out 507 interventions of all kinds since the start of the Grand Magal.
Of these interventions, 270 were directly linked to road traffic accidents, representing more than 53% of rescue operations. These road accidents caused 660 victims, including 22 deaths, confirming once again the particular danger of travel during this mass gathering.
A spectacular accident on the road to Darou Mouhty
The most significant accident of this Thursday occurred at 12:27 p.m. on the Darou Mouhty road. A public transport vehicle, commonly known as "Ndiaga Ndiaye," overturned, injuring 24 people.
An urgent call to respect the highway code
Faced with this increase in accidents, the authorities are issuing a solemn appeal for caution. "This situation calls for greater respect for traffic regulations," said Commander Yatma Dieye, emphasizing the urgent need for collective awareness.

ils pouvaient bien eviter de mourire, en restant à la maison faire le magal chez eux....si des millions de personnes veulent se renconter en un seul lieu en une nuit il ne manque pas des risques d'accident.....Mais on perd la raison on dirait.....ca sert à rien d'aller au magal si on ne peut pas assurer par jour les 5 prieres d'allah , si on ne peut pas arreter de forniquer , si on ne peut pas arreter de mentir , de calomnier etc........on peut bien diminuer les accidents en eduquant les gens...faire deux cents kms avec une jakarta c'est se suicider...trop de desordre et de mal education...
c'est vraiment dommage que à chaque magal ou gamo c'est la tuerie , c'est la tristesse pour beaucoup de familles....
