Tivaouane : Diomaye Faye réaffirme l’engagement de l’État à accompagner le Gamou

The President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, visiting Tivaouane this Saturday, August 30, 2025, for a courtesy visit to the General Khalifa of Tidianes, in prelude to the celebration of Mawlid Al Naby scheduled for September 4, in accordance with the republican tradition of communion with the family of Mame Maodo during the commemoration of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad (PSL), paid a warm tribute to Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour.

The Head of State reaffirmed the State's commitment to supporting this important religious event, which attracts several million faithful pilgrims from all over the world each year. He paid a "deserved tribute" to the General Caliph, before reassuring him of the State's determination to spare no effort in ensuring the success of this major event, worthy of flawless organization.

Bassirou Diomaye Faye further reassured Serigne Babacar Sy Mansour about the infrastructure and sanitation efforts in Tivaouane, saying that a substantial budget has been allocated this year to sustainably improve the city's sanitation. He also informed: "The Minister of Sanitation has already begun work before the Gamou, and it will continue afterward. This will now be a permanent action so that pilgrims can perform their ziarra in the best conditions."

The President of the Republic requested the prayers of the General Caliph of Tidianes for "the success of our mission in the service of the Senegalese", for peace, harmony, and prosperity in Senegal." He also thanked the marabout for his prayers and advice for the benefit of the country.
