To ensure security and medical coverage for the 131st anniversary of the Grand Magal of Touba 2025 edition, the National Fire Brigade has deployed an exceptionally large-scale operation in the holy city and its surrounding areas.

Early and massive deployment

The main detachment has been deployed since Sunday, August 10, with advance elements already positioned since Thursday, August 7, 2025. This anticipation demonstrates the importance given to the security of this major religious event which brings together millions of pilgrims.

The mission assigned to the firefighters covers the period from August 7 to 15, 2025 and consists of ensuring, in the commune of Touba and its operational area of interest, relief and prevention against fires, dangers and accidents of any nature threatening public safety.

Considerable human resources

The detachment mobilizes 554 officers and sappers, distributed as follows:

- 29 officers

- 174 non-commissioned officers

- 351 other ranks

This significant human force makes it possible to effectively cover all of the event's security needs.

An impressive logistical arsenal

To support these personnel, 93 specialized vehicles were deployed:

- 17 fire engines for fighting fires

- 24 ambulances for medical evacuations

- 9 road rescue vehicles for traffic accidents

- 14 Large Capacity Tank Trucks of 30,000 liters each

- Various other special equipment

An organization in three strategic levels

The system is structured around three levels of intervention:

First echelon: Personal and material resources deployed directly in the holy city of Touba and its immediate area of interest.

Second level: Resources positioned on all major roads leading to the holy city to secure access routes.

Third level: Supervisory units put on notice, in particular all fire stations whose sectors open onto the main traffic routes towards Touba.

Specialized units for all risks

Several specialized units complete this system:

The Rescue and Clearing Company is authorized to intervene in the event of building collapses or traffic accidents with incarcerated victims, according to Seneweb sources.

The Emergency Medical Rescue Unit (USUM) provides paramedical assistance and enhanced pre-hospital care for seriously injured victims.

Rapid Response Motorcycles provide prompt assistance in hard-to-reach or congested areas.

The Rapid Intervention Detachment (DIR), deployed since August 3 in Touba and Kaolack, is strengthening flood management following the heavy rainfall of August 2.

A response adapted to the challenges

This exceptional device, presented by Commander Yatma Dieye, Head of the Information and Public Relations Division of the National Fire Brigade, illustrates the mobilization of the State to guarantee the security of the largest religious gathering in Senegal.
