Liverpool écrase Bournemouth en ouverture de la saison
Liverpool got their 2025-26 Premier League season off to a perfect start with a 4-2 win over Bournemouth at Anfield.
The Premier League season opener offered an emotional spectacle at Anfield between reigning champions Liverpool and Bournemouth, ninth in the previous season. The match, which started with a fierce start, featured a notable performance from Liverpool's newly signed French striker Hugo Ekitike.
The Reds quickly took the lead shortly after the half-hour mark thanks to Hugo Ekitike (37th minute). The former Frankfurt player took advantage of a favorable counterattack, combining with Alexis Mac Allister before penetrating the penalty area and finishing with an unstoppable flat-footed effort. This wasn't the only time he distinguished himself in the match, as the PSG academy player provided an assist for Cody Gakpo in the 49th minute to make it 2-0.
A crazy last half hour
After the hour mark, the visitors began their revolt, led by Ghanaian Antoine Semenyo. The Cherries striker scored two goals in the 64th and 76th minutes to restore the balance. A balance that the Reds would undo at the very end of the match.
In the 88th minute, Federico Chiesa, who had come on a few minutes earlier to replace Florian Wirtz, scored the goal to make it 3-2 for Liverpool. In stoppage time, Mohamed Salah sealed the Reds' victory after a pass from Wataru Endo.
This success marks an ideal start for the title holders, with a solid team but also individuals, like Hugo Ekitiké who paid tribute to the late Diogo Jota after his goal.
