En Janvier, 2017 (07:36 AM)President-elect Barrow should it be inaugurated before the end of court proceedings?
The Gambians must understand their Constitution. This would prevent them from being misled by anyone. Read on for yourself and draw your own conclusion:
Paragraph 43 (2): "The Commission shall announce the results of all elections and referendums which it is responsible.
It is therefore up to the IEC to announce the results of the elections.
The IEC announced that President-elect Barrow won the election. He is therefore declared elected.
In addition, subsection 63 (2) states: "The person declared elected as president shall take the prescribed oath and shall take office on the expiration of the term of office of the past president.
It also means that President-elect Barrow, who is declared elected, will be sworn in as President when the term of incumbent President Jammeh ends.
Anyone who does not agree with this should also cite the Constitution to support his claim. If they do not, their claim must be seen as a means of misleading public opinion.
There is nothing as a provisional result in the Gambian constitution and the same system is applied in the United States, the United Kingdom and many English-speaking countries. Alhagie Joof ment.
