Gaza: la Défense civile fait état de 15 personnes tuées dimanche dans des frappes israéliennes
The Gaza Civil Defense announced Sunday that Israeli strikes killed 15 people across the Palestinian territory, as Israel and Hamas accused each other of violating the ceasefire there.
Mahmoud Bassal, spokesman for the Civil Defense, a rescue service operating under the authority of Hamas, revised upwards the initial death toll of 11.
Among the victims were six people killed in an Israeli strike in Al-Zawaida, in the center of the territory, on a "group of civilians" all displaced from areas further north, he told AFP.
Another strike, on "tents of displaced people near Khan Younes (south), also killed a woman and two children, he added.
The Israeli military told AFP it was verifying the claims.
It announced in the morning that it had carried out airstrikes in the south of the Palestinian territory, saying it was responding to Hamas attacks on its positions, which the movement denied, then reported new strikes in the area, saying it was responding to "the flagrant violation of the ceasefire agreement earlier today."
Given the restrictions imposed on the media in Gaza and the difficulties of access on the ground, AFP is unable to independently verify information from different parties.
