Reece Alan Sorenson, an American mathematics teacher at Parrish Middle School in Salem (USA), was taken into custody two weeks ago on suspicion of physical abuse and starvation of his six-week-old twins and resigned from his post on Tuesday, August 26.
The babies were taken to a local hospital on August 10 because the girl was having difficulty swallowing. According to court documents seen by the Salem Reporter, the father admitted to authorities that he stuffed a cloth in the baby's mouth to stop her from crying for about three minutes. A medical examination revealed that she had bruises and bleeding under her tongue.
His twin brother suffered 10 broken ribs and bruises around his eyes after allegedly being squeezed with his forearms by the man, who is also a captain in the U.S. Army Reserve. He also allegedly "forcefully pressed" his knuckles against the child's stomach to force him to release gas.
