Suède : Une femme âgée de 50 ans donne naissance à des triplés
She already had four children and wanted one more to complete the set. But God gave her three. In Sweden, a woman named Marie Gustavsson recently gave birth to triplets at the age of 50. Charlie, Lorinne, and Lara were born by cesarean section in a hospital in the town of Uddevalla.
They are doing well, as is their mother who struggles to express her joy.
It should be noted that Marie did not follow the normal conception process. She opted for artificial insemination in Cyprus.
"We didn't think it would work the first time."
The treatment cost her 5500 euros. Doctors estimated the probability of the three embryos developing at only 5%, but they all survived.
The Swedish woman's pregnancy was considered extremely risky because of her age.
The doctors had even advised her not to carry it to term, but she rejected the idea.
Charlie, Lorrine, and Lara weighed between 1000 and 1500 grams at birth. The Gustavson family is therefore growing beyond her expectations, and Marie says that being a mother at 50 is easier for her than when she was younger.
