« Black-out numérique » : la menace qui pèse sur l’État après la fuite de 70 Go de données
Senegal is facing a worrying wave of cyberattacks targeting key state institutions. After the Directorate General of Taxes and Domains (DGID) and the Directorate of File Automation (DAF), it is now the Public Treasury's turn to be targeted, with a suspected leak of 70 GB of sensitive data.
Interviewed by L'Observateur, two experts warn of the fragility of the country's digital infrastructure. Gorguy Souleymane Ka believes that Senegal faces an increasingly exposed "attack surface," exacerbated by a lack of coordination. Critical of the fragmented approach to information systems, he warns: "We risk a blackout with the acceleration of digital transformation."
For his part, Gérard Dacosta emphasizes that rapid digital transformation mechanically increases risks. According to him, beyond data theft, a cyberattack can aim to destabilize the state: "It can also aim to undermine trust in institutions," he explains.
To address this threat, the two specialists recommend centralizing surveillance through a Security Operations Center (SOC), massive investment in training local experts, and elevating cybersecurity to the status of a matter of national sovereignty, on par with territorial defense.
