Mia Guissé-Noface : De l’amour sous les projecteurs à la rupture publique
One of the most iconic couples, Mia Guissé and No Face, conquered the Senegalese music scene with their duo "Maabo." Evolving over several years, their music videos and harmony symbolized a certain idea of the modern couple in Senegal.
Behind the scenes, it seemed the opposite. Mia has lifted the lid on the duo's inner workings. In poignant interviews, she revealed that she experienced "domestic violence" and a difficult relationship marked by manipulation from her partner. "He was the one hitting me. And it was happening in front of our daughter," she claims in interviews, but has not given further details out of respect for her 9-year-old daughter, of whom she has sole custody.
For her, the return of the group Maabo is neither feasible nor healthy, even if some of her fans continue to hope for a musical reconciliation. Mia is focusing on her solo career, her newfound freedom, and above all, stability for their child.
No Face counterattacks: "I am deprived of my daughter"
In a video shared on social media, No Face expresses his pain as a father: he has, according to him, had no contact with his daughter for over a year. He claims to have been excluded from her life, despite his efforts to maintain the connection. Deeply moved, he addresses her directly in a heartbreaking video, begging her to never doubt his love.
He also accuses Mia of over-exposing their daughter in her music videos and artistic projects, claiming that a child has no place in showbiz. For him, it's not just about divorce, but parental exclusion. Faced with these accusations, Mia has not remained silent. She claims that the Senegalese courts granted her sole custody of their daughter, and that No Face has rights he is not exercising. She claims to have facilitated calls between father and daughter, to have shared No Face's number with their daughter. For her, this media outing is an attempt to play on emotions when in reality, he has not fought to maintain the bond.
A personal breakup that became public
Behind the curtain of fame, Maabo's story is that of two artists who have become strangers to one another, united only by a child who now finds himself at the heart of a media conflict. Away from the spotlight, Mia wants to protect her daughter and her balance. No Face, on the other hand, proclaims he wants to regain his place as a father.
In a broader context, Kiné Ndiaye, a coach in personal development and relationship management and life balance, believes that this phenomenon is linked to illusion: "This separation, however rapid it may be, is linked to the effects of the spotlight, the illusion in front of the spotlight, once turned off, reality catches up with them," she laments.
The audience, moved by the intensity of this story, remains divided. Between the words of a wounded man and those of a woman who says she has built herself after a toxic relationship, the truth seems fragmented, as their duo perhaps was long before the official separation.
