Following the passing of Serigne Cheikh Saliou Mbacké and his burial beside his illustrious father within the grounds of the Great Mosque of Touba, the family caliphate now passes to Serigne Bassirou Mbacké. The newly appointed caliph, renowned for his wisdom and humility, is seen as a faithful successor to his father's work, thus consolidating his role as spiritual guide within the Mouride community.

The third son of Serigne Saliou Mbacké and Sokhna Fatou Diop, the new caliph is a well-known and respected figure in Mouride circles. For many years, he has been considered one of the closest spiritual heirs to the vision and teachings left by his father, the fifth Caliph General of the Mourides.

Within the community, many see him as a faithful successor to the work of Serigne Saliou Mbacké. His discretion, wisdom, dedication to his work, and humility often lead his followers to describe him as a "carbon copy" of his late father.

His accession to the family caliphate is seen as a natural transition, in keeping with a spiritual heritage deeply rooted in the values of Mouridism. For many years, Serigne Bassirou Mbacké supported the religious and social activities initiated by Serigne Saliou Mbacké, thus strengthening his close ties with the faithful and family members.

The new guide, who also bears a highly symbolic first name, is the homonym of Serigne Bassirou Mbacké, father of the current Khalif General of the Mourides, Serigne Mountakha Mbacké, a reference which further strengthens his anchoring in the history of the brotherhood.

Known by the nickname "Borom Ndiouroul" since 2007, Serigne Bassirou Mbacké now inherits a significant spiritual responsibility in a context marked by mourning and reflection. His arrival at the head of the family of Serigne Saliou Mbacké is greeted with hope by many disciples, who see in him the guarantor of the preservation of the teachings, values, and moral legacy bequeathed by his father.
