Oussouye : Des dizaines de vautours et d'animaux retrouvés morts dans les rizières d’Edioungou
The rice paddies of Edioungou, in the department of Oussouye, were the scene of a disturbing discovery this Thursday. No fewer than 33 vultures, an eagle, a forest cat, three dogs, and a goat were found dead in the same area.
Alerted, administrative authorities and technical services went to the scene. The delegation included the prefect of the Oussouye department, the head of the departmental livestock service, the president of the livestock farmers, and the head of the Loudia Ouoloff veterinary post.
According to initial findings by technicians, this unusual mortality could be linked to poisoning or intoxication. The animals may have consumed a goat contaminated with a toxic substance, thus causing this mass die-off.
Investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances of this incident and to take the necessary measures to protect wildlife and local populations.
