I. Thioune, a married man around 60 years old, is being prosecuted for pedophilia and abduction of a minor. He is accused of sexually abusing the teenager O. Talla, who was 12 years old at the time of the events, which occurred in June 2023 in Thiès.

In court, the defendant denied the charges, claiming the accusations were false. "I was at my construction site and I heard someone call my name. When I went outside, I saw it was O. Talla. I asked her what she was doing, and she told me she was going to contribute to a tontine (a type of savings club) for her mother. When I noticed Mr. A. Diop watching us, I told the girl to leave. It was A. Diop who orchestrated all of this," he stated.

The victim, O. Talla, recounted that she was on her way to the shop when the accused intercepted her and invited her to his room. She maintained that once there, I. Thioune jumped on her, pulled her pants down to her knees, and then inserted his finger into her vagina. She emphasized that the defendant tore her t-shirt while she tried to defend herself.

Witness A. Diop stated that on his way to the gym, he saw the girl talking to the accused. Shortly afterward, realizing she was missing, he understood that she had gone to I. Thioune's house. Accompanied by another individual, A. Diop went to the house and forced the door open to catch the girl in the defendant's room, finding her in a compromising situation.

The defendant, for his part, claimed that witnesses found him sweeping his yard, not locked inside with the girl. The investigation also revealed that the defendant had previously committed the same type of act against another young girl.

The public prosecutor emphasized that, without the intervention of witness A. Diop, the defendant would have continued his actions, having already undressed the victim. He deemed I. Thioune guilty of pedophilia and abduction of a minor, and requested a sentence of 10 years' imprisonment. The verdict is scheduled for March 24, 2026.
