Campagne arachidière dans le Nioro : La commercialisation au point mort, les opérateurs absents
The peanut marketing campaign is proving particularly difficult for producers in the Nioro department of the Kaolack region. Traders and buyers are scarce, leaving farmers unable to sell their produce.
The situation is bleak, as Mady Camara, a trader at the Ndiayenne market, explains: “We are in Ndiayenne, one of the busiest markets in the Nioro department, and there are almost no peanut buyers. The market is practically deserted, and producers are facing enormous difficulties.”
Mady Camara, who has more than twelve years of experience as an operator and manager of secco (collection point), says he has never experienced such a situation.
Producers point to the very insufficient number of official collection points set up, which seriously hinders the marketing of their seeds, even though they are in urgent need of liquidity.
The situation is particularly critical in the commune of Kaymor. In addition to the general problem of a shortage of buyers, the area suffers from severe isolation. There is only one collection point for 23 villages, exacerbating the logistical and financial difficulties for local producers.
This slowness jeopardizes farmers' incomes and raises concerns about the effectiveness of the marketing campaign organization in this area known for its high peanut production.
