Après un voyage marathon de 20h, la sentence tombe pour Édouard Mendy face à la Belgique !
Édouard Mendy has finally returned to the Senegalese national team. The Lions' goalkeeper rejoined the group in Seattle (USA) after a long journey of nearly 20 hours from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where he was continuing his treatment.
Speaking at a press conference on the eve of the crucial Round of 16 match against Belgium, coach Pape Thiaw confirmed that the Al-Ahli goalkeeper will not be able to take his place for this knockout match.
"Édouard Mendy is out for the match against Belgium, but he will be there with the group," the Senegalese coach stated firmly.
The national team's medical staff remains optimistic about the African champion's recovery. His actual return to training with the group in the coming days will depend entirely on the progress of his injury.
