Like other regions of the country, Louga celebrated the 66th anniversary of Senegal's accession to international sovereignty.

In the town of Louga, the celebration took place this Saturday on President Abdou Diouf Boulevard.

After a review of the troops by Governor Ndèye Nguénar Mbodj, a detachment from the 22nd Reconnaissance and Support Battalion, a detachment from the 12th Training Battalion, paramilitary bodies, and elementary schools from the commune of Louga took part in the parade, on the theme: "The Defense and Security Forces, partners of the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), Dakar 2026".

The head of the regional executive highlighted the strategic role of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) in the success of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG), emphasizing their essential contribution to the organization of this major international event.

In Kébémer, the parade took place on Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba Avenue. After the preschool and primary school children passed by, the security and defense forces, as well as various tradespeople, treated the public to a colorful parade.

The prefect of Kébémer, Ousseynou Mbaye, who presided over the ceremony, then praised the efforts of the defense and security forces in guaranteeing the safety of the population and particularly in the organization of the 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

The town of Linguère has also indulged in tradition

After the civil parade, the military parade and those of the various socio-professional organizations, the prefect of the department, Modou Thiam, praised the exceptional mobilization of the inhabitants of Linguère who came in large numbers to participate in the celebration of the independence day.

The administrative authority has awarded decorations to several prominent figures in the department for services rendered to the Djoloff community.

In concluding his speech, the prefect also paid a vibrant tribute to the army before asking it to play an important role in the success of the Youth Olympic Games scheduled for next December.
