4 Avril à Mbacké : Quand le préfet Khadim Hann transforme la fête en geste de vie
In the lead-up to the celebration of the national independence day on April 4th, the prefect of Mbacké organized a series of civic events. Yesterday, Wednesday, a hike was held to raise awareness among the population about non-communicable diseases.
On April 2nd, the second day of festivities was marked by a blood drive at the Mbacké health center. This initiative, spearheaded by Prefect Khadim Hann, was justified by the urgent health situation. "Many people unfortunately die due to a lack of blood," he stated, also highlighting the recurring traffic accidents as an aggravating factor.
The prefect commended the efforts of the district medical officer, the members of the organizing committee, and the department heads who participated in the blood donation. He also appealed to the public to come to the health center in large numbers to help establish a proper blood bank for the department.
Fatou Diop Ndiaye, head of the blood bank at the Matlaboul Fawzeyni Hospital in Touba, welcomed the initiative. She noted that this blood drive is being held for the third consecutive year and that participation was higher this time, including firefighters and gendarmes.
By 8:30 a.m., 79 units of blood had already been collected, with the goal of reaching 100 before closing time. She encouraged the prefect to extend this type of initiative to other segments of society.
