During the night of March 31, 2026, between 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m., members of the Dakar regional narcotics brigade of the OCRTIS arrested three individuals and seized 254 kg of Indian hemp, following a crackdown carried out simultaneously in Thiaroye, Kounoune and the Alioune Sow housing estate in Guédiawaye.

It all started with information about an imminent drug shipment in the Dakar suburbs. An interception operation was immediately deployed at several strategic locations. Investigators quickly identified a suspicious vehicle parked in Thiaroye-sur-Mer, behind the City Hall. Close surveillance, reinforced by drone support, was then put in place.

At 8:30 p.m., the raid began. E. Dieng, 31, a driver residing in Zac Mbao, who had just boarded the vehicle, was arrested along with IN Mendy, 47, a painter residing in Golf. The officers seized several cell phones from them.

Invited to collaborate, E. Dieng then contacted R. Sambe to hand over one of the eight packages of the shipment.

10:15 PM: Arrest of the third suspect in Kounoune

Investigators went to Kounoune, where R. Samb was arrested in the act at 10:15 p.m., upon receiving her package. A search of her home revealed silver and gold jewelry as well as 1,500,000 CFA francs.

The search of E. Dieng's home, in the Alioune Sow district of Guédiawaye, led to the discovery of 3,000,000 CFA francs, an administrative document relating to a plot of land in Hamo 3 and various administrative documents.

When questioned separately, the accused gave consistent statements. E. Dieng admitted to having been responsible for delivering the eight packages, four for IN Mendy, one for R. Samb and three for a certain Mor, who is currently on the run and actively being sought.

IN Mendy, for his part, acknowledges ownership of his four packages. Faced with the evidence, R. Samb admits to owning the seized package in his possession.

The three suspects have been taken into custody for conspiracy, possession and trafficking of cannabis within the country, complicity in trafficking, and money laundering. They have been informed of their right to legal counsel. The drugs and all seized items have been placed under seal.
