Douanes : Gouvernance et coopération au cœur de la 31e réunion de l’OMD-AOC à Dakar
The 31st meeting of World Customs Organization (WCO) Experts for West and Central Africa opened on November 17, 2025, in Dakar, for five days of work. Discussions focus on financial governance, transparency, and regional customs cooperation, with a particular emphasis on modernizing services and combating fraud.
The inaugural session of the Audit and Finance Committee, chaired by Papa Thialaw Fall, reiterated the central role of this mechanism in analyzing and ensuring the compliance of regional actions. Discussions emphasized the need to strengthen trust between administrations and to build upon best practices to guide future reforms.
The Senegalese Customs Directorate General reaffirmed its commitment to integrating the findings of the work into its national strategies. The 24 member states of the WCO-WCA region are pursuing the objective of establishing more integrated and effective customs cooperation.
The experts also discussed the digitalization of procedures and the use of information technologies to improve the speed of exchanges and the security of trade flows. The implementation of shared digital tools could facilitate transaction tracking, reduce errors, and harmonize standards among member countries, thereby strengthening regional competitiveness and operational transparency.
