Gamou Fansou Bodian : Bignonna mobilisée pour un «événement majeur »
In Bignona, just days before the Gamou Fansou Bodian festival, the organizing committee, led by Bourama Bodian, affirms that it is fully prepared to welcome worshippers, authorities, and delegations. Preparations are underway in a spirit of general mobilization, with strong involvement from local communities, youth associations, and institutional partners.
With the Gamou of Fansou Bodian approaching on May 8th, the organizing committee, led by Bourama Bodian, convened a meeting to raise awareness among the population about the "set sétal" day on April 26th. The goal is to provide pilgrims with a clean and welcoming city. The organizing committee is counting on the mobilization of young people and organizations responsible for waste management.
"UCG is a privileged partner. They have been present for years, sometimes even before us. We have raised awareness among the districts, the youth and all segments of the population of Bignona," explains the president of the organizing committee.
The cleanliness of the city is a key concern: "We know that we cannot live in filth. That is why we have taken responsibility to make Bignonna clean," he adds.
Youth at the heart of the event
Community sports associations (ASC), the youth council, and other associations are central to the activities. Awareness-raising meetings have been organized to ensure broad participation. Women also play an important role in the community dynamic.
For the chairman of the organizing committee, youth is at the heart of the mobilization: "Youth, above all, is the focal point," Bodian emphasized. Women, also involved, are participating in the efforts in their neighborhoods.
Prevention and safety
Regarding security, the committee emphasizes prevention: "We have never had to observe the presence of prohibited products. But the world has changed, and we need to raise awareness to avoid any undesirable situation," stresses Bourama Bodian.
The organizers insist on the need to control the delegations to avoid any risk.
State authorities are expected, although their presence remains uncertain. The schedule has been adjusted: Thursday is now dedicated to welcoming the authorities and marchers from Diagoum. Friday will be marked by prayer and the official ceremony at the stadium, while Saturday will be dedicated to the Ziarra (pilgrimage) to the mother of the marabout (religious leader) in Colomba.
Advanced preparations
"Preparations are progressing in accordance with the commitments made to the administration," assured Bourama Bodian.
The committee says it is ready. "Today, we are fully prepared. The commissions are working with the administration on the various sites. We are just waiting for the equipment provided by the Ministry of the Interior from May 3rd," Bodian explains.
He is requesting state support to facilitate the movement of pilgrims from Mauritania, Gambia and Fogny, who often face difficulties in military zones.
