Tabaski Ngom's relatives once again pleaded for his provisional release during a press conference held this Thursday, May 14, in the village of Farrar, located in the commune of Ndiob.

Prosecuted for embezzlement of public funds amounting to more than 700 million FCFA, Tabaski Ngom had declared that she had given part of the money to former minister Moustapha Diop during the 2024 legislative elections. The latter, placed under arrest warrant, was recently obtained provisional release.

Speaking to the press, Tabaski Ngom's family appealed to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister for her provisional release, especially given her worrying state of health. "We learned that Moustapha Diop has been granted provisional release, but the one who deserves it most is Tabaski Ngom, a woman who has served her country," declared Aly Sène, spokesperson for the day and also Tabaski Ngom's brother.

According to Mr. Sène, Tabaski Ngom is only mentioned in this one legal case, unlike Moustapha Diop who, he claims, is involved in several cases. "How can Moustapha Diop obtain provisional release at the expense of Tabaski Ngom?" he asked.

Held in pretrial detention for over a year, Tabaski Ngom's health is incompatible with detention, according to her family. "We are requesting provisional release for our sister Tabaski Ngom. She is seriously ill," they insisted.

The speakers also discussed the political relationship between Tabaski Ngom and Moustapha Diop. According to them, it was alongside the latter that she began her political involvement.

"During the legislative elections, if Moustapha Diop is known to the people of Ndiob to the point of winning the only polling station in the village of Farrar, it is thanks to Tabaski Ngom," testified Aly Sène, claiming that she campaigned for him.

Tabaski Ngom is a native of the village of Farrar, located two kilometers from the commune of Ndiob, in the department of Fatick.
