In just a few days, the Tivaouane-Peulh Local Police Brigade handled four separate cases involving six individuals for offenses ranging from sheep theft on the eve of Tabaski (Eid al-Adha) to assault and battery of an infant. All the files have been forwarded to Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa, head of the prosecutor's office at the Rufisque High Court. Seneweb provides the details.

CASE 1: Night of May 17: Two sheep stolen on the eve of Tabaski

On the night of Saturday, May 17, 2026, at around 9:00 p.m., Mr. F. Dieng, a sheep seller, saw four individuals climb the wall of his home and steal two animals, which they immediately loaded onto a cart. He immediately alerted his brother, S. Dieng, and the two of them set off in pursuit of the perpetrators on foot. Unable to catch them, they returned home to find transportation before resuming their search. They finally located the suspects in the Namora neighborhood of Tivaouane-Peulh. The gendarmes on patrol, alerted to the situation, arrested them.

Three men are implicated: FTG, 35, a painter; BS, 28, a bricklayer; and AT, 22, a sheet metal worker, all three residents of the Faty neighborhood in Tivaouane-Peulh. When questioned, they denied everything, claiming they had simply left a bar in the Namora neighborhood. Following the investigation, the three suspects were brought before Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa on Tuesday on charges of criminal conspiracy and burglary committed as a group during the night.

CASE 2: A cart driver caught red-handed attempting to steal a motorcycle

On Friday, May 16, 2026, Mr. EMSow spotted a man and his accomplice attacking his Jakarta motorcycle from his terrace. He shouted and called his neighbors for help. The alert thwarted the two criminals' plan. One of them fled, but the second, MF, a 25-year-old cart driver residing in Keur Massar, was subdued by the neighbors before being handed over to the gendarmerie patrol.

When questioned, he readily admitted to the acts and confirmed that he had acted with an accomplice whose identity he refused to reveal. He was brought before the prosecutor in Rufisque on Tuesday on charges of criminal conspiracy and attempted robbery.

CASE 3: A shopkeeper injures an adult and unintentionally burns a one-year-old baby

The incident occurred on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, around 4:00 PM. KN, 29, a shopkeeper residing in Tivaouane-Peulh, got into a fight with S. Touré, nephew of the plaintiff, I. Dabo. After being separated once, he returned shortly afterward with some cart drivers to settle the dispute. I. Dabo then asked him to leave. In response, KN attacked him, injuring his neck and left arm.

He then went to the neighboring home of K. Faty, whom he threatened with a broken bottle while hurling insults. In a state of intoxication, he overturned a kettle of hot water that was on a stove, causing severe thermal burns to the one-year-old infant, I. Faty. The child was rushed to the Keur Massar health center. The medical certificate issued indicated a temporary incapacity for work of 13 days.

Identified and arrested, KN admitted to the acts. He was brought before the prosecutor in Rufisque on charges of assault and battery, insults, threats, and violence resulting in intentional burning.

CASE 4: He bites a creditor's ear over a debt of 1,500 FCFA

On Sunday, May 18, 2026, a seemingly innocuous debt dispute escalated into an assault. DD, a 22-year-old cart driver residing in Tivaouane-Peulh, owed 2,000 FCFA to Mr. ABBéye. He had only repaid 500 FCFA, leaving a balance of 1,500 FCFA. Fed up with his creditor's repeated demands, DD lost his temper and violently bit ABBéye on the left ear. The victim went to the Fann National University Hospital, where a medical certificate indicated a 10-day period of temporary incapacity for work.

When questioned, DD admitted to the acts without contesting them and asked for leniency from the court. He was brought before Prosecutor Cheikh Diakhoumpa on Tuesday on charges of assault and battery.
