Saraya : nouvelle opération de sécurisation, saisies importantes de produits prohibés
Security operations initiated by the Kédougou Gendarmerie Legion continue intensively in the Saraya department. On the night of Thursday, August 29 to Friday, August 30, 2025, the Saraya search brigade conducted a large-scale night patrol from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., targeting in particular the Bantankoto sector and its surroundings.
This operation led to the identification of 62 people and the inspection of 15 motorcycles, without any vehicles being intercepted. However, the gendarmes made significant seizures: 450 kg of cyanide packaged in nine 50 kg bags, 1,000 liters of gasoline from Mali, two motorcycle tricycles, and a batch of loose cans of alcoholic beverages.
In total, three people were arrested and two tricycles were immobilized. An investigation is underway to determine the origin and destination of these products, some of which are strictly regulated due to their dangerousness, particularly in the context of gold panning.
This presence of the gendarmerie further reassures the populations of this part of the South-East of the country, which is facing threats of illegal and clandestine activities.
