Two epidemics, zero panic.
Rift Valley Fever and Mpox are lurking, but the country continues to go about its business as if nothing is happening. The posters are tame, and the warnings too lukewarm. And that's the problem. The Ministry of Health is speaking to reason, when it should be speaking to fear. Because in Senegal Ndiaye, nothing moves without emotion. As long as there are no shocking images, as long as we don't sense danger at the door, we always think we're safe. "Avoid contact with infected animals," "Wash your hands"... But who still listens to instructions that don't make us tremble? Common sense has never been enough to save a population. What protects here is the right amount of fear, the kind that makes you think twice before buying meat placed on a tarpaulin full of flies.
The Ministry chose to pedagogically hold its press conference, which was so cold that it had a hard time making it to the front page. It should have chosen electroshock. Show us the consequences, tell us what a fever that devours the body, or a rash that isolates you from the world, really is. Not for show, but for survival. It's sad to say, but in Senegal, fear is the only health message that gets through. So, Ministry of Health, forget the diplomacy of press releases and scare us. Because by trying to spare people's minds, you'll end up burying bodies. Do that, and you'll see that in a week, this story will be a thing of the past. Oops... watch the borders too.

Betu wurus Vous vous êtes trompé dans l'analyse des causes : l'Etat ne peut pas déclarer la guerre aux médias (blocage de l'aide à la presse et résiliation des conventions) et solliciter leurs concours en même dans la réalisation de sa mission de prévention.
C'est en ce moment qu'on sent l'utilité de la presse qui est un partenaire et non un ennemi à abattre pour des raisons politiques
