Just yesterday, political speeches were coming like a gust of wind. On Facebook, WhatsApp, on the radio, in the streets with uninterrupted broadband. Not even those of Moussa Bocar Thiam, who, at every demonstration, had VPNs activated. The people listened and responded.
And then, power arrived. The machine gun turned into a fax. A recitation of speeches with learned words that get lost in the dust of the lecterns. The communicators, who had sold us the "Senegal new look," became the guardians of the temple, reciting official communiqués and memos in hieroglyphics.
People, accustomed to direct mail, find themselves condemned to waiting for registered mail using communication channels from another era.
So we wonder if the opposition's microphone doesn't run out of juice once it's plugged into power? Or have they simply forgotten the "talk to the people" button? We demand weekly meetings.
