La Politique au Sénégal doit retrouver sa vocation premiére: Servir le Peuple ( Par Alioune Badara Kandji )
Politics in Senegal must return to its primary purpose: Serving the People.
The position of President of the Republic is first and foremost an eminently political one.
The President of the Republic embodies a vision supported by a political ideology.
And this rule is universal and is not subject to any exceptions or speculations.
The political "neutrality" of a President is a utopia, a falsification of the precepts of Political Science. It is not theorized by any political ideology.
However, in order to properly fulfill its sovereign missions, a posture of "right of reserve", of "conflicts of interest" is imposed on it by the ethics appropriate to the function.
Moreover, even by comparison, other countries like the United States are more salient.
In the United States you will hear about the "Trump Administration" which is not aimed at anyone personally or by name, but which dictates the entire Republican ideology.
A President of the Republic needs "political legitimacy" to carry out his program and ideals as indicated by his party of affiliation.
Today in Senegal we saw a President in a suspensive capacity evade this rule.
We can grant him this stance.
Notwithstanding a highly risky stance given the ideological gap that may exist between the supreme institution he leads and the DNA of his Party.
In Real Politik, this can look like suicide.
A President is strong when he has control over his party and, above all, a strong ideological foundation.
But the real priorities lie elsewhere.
I have always maintained, despite the visible signs, that an institutional crisis was not appropriate, even given the context of economic gloom in which our country finds itself.
An economic context that should dictate our management practices, but more so our political paradigm.
Today, for the greater good of the Nation, an institutional crisis will lead us straight to our demise.
Senegal is already suffering from this bizarre legacy which dictates its path and condemns it to suffer.
It's not about being Pro Diomage or Pro Sonko.
Let us not repeat the mistakes of the past.
These are the destinies of the Senegalese people; let us be clear-headed and less emotional.
Senegal does not need these factionalisms and I had already warned about this.
For the greater good of the Nation, let us come together around what is essential, otherwise we risk repeating history in our own way.
The Senegalese people deserve more than these egos, narcissisms, or calculations.
I am Pro Diomaye, I am Pro Sonko, and even better, I will remain eternally Pro Senegal.
