L'urgence de l'unité face à la crise sociale (par Babacar Kebe)
May unity, the unity that has repeatedly saved Senegal and made our nation a model in West Africa, on the continent, and throughout the world, remain a constant and a living reality. May Allah, the Almighty, protect us from the intoxication of power and the demons of division. May He strengthen peace, unity, harmony, and cohesion at the heart of our institutions and our leaders. Amen.
Two recurring themes emerged: "Sonko moy Diomaye" and "Diomaye moy Sonko," both driven by the same program and governance model, which are being used throughout the country to mobilize support. But long before these slogans, millions of Senegalese had embraced your ideas and political principles, convinced of the promised renewal.
Many have paid a heavy price: lives shattered, people mutilated, others imprisoned… So many destinies turned upside down in the name of the hope for a new state and a profound promise of change on all levels.
After eighteen months of governance, hope remains for some but is fading for others. Not because recovery is impossible, but because, after nearly a decade of working together, your positions now seem contradictory.

What has changed in the meantime?
Don't try to find a scapegoat. A state must be governed; it should never be run by special interests, egos, internal squabbles, or power struggles. Promote your ideas, your program, and the trusted people you have chosen, but don't let the state apparatus impose its logic at the expense of your commitments. This is the stance that will elevate you and make you just.
Those who accept being chosen must accept the responsibilities that come with it. Those who choose must also bear the consequences of their choices. Don't be at odds with yourselves.
Beyond the high cost of living and a still fragile economy, do not exacerbate citizens' anxieties or the sleepless nights of the most vulnerable. Do not further expose our hospitals to patients exhausted or in crisis because of your divisions.
Please, my dear leaders: calm things down. Unite. Clarify. The country desperately needs it.
The real concerns of the Senegalese people are economic, security-related, and social: employment, food sovereignty, purchasing power, peace, and security. Do not draw them into a debate that is neither urgent nor a priority.
Settle your differences. Come back to the people with concrete answers and visible measures. The people are watching you patiently; restore their hope through actions.
It is on this ground – the improvement of living conditions and the protection of the nation – that Senegal expects you to deliver.
