Rencontres de Pastef au Palais de la République, résurgence des pratiques politiques ‘’politiciennes’’ ? [ Par Kadialy NOBA]
If the information that the President of the Republic is preparing to receive the deputies of the Pastef les Patriotes parliamentary group at the Palace of the Republic, then there is a problem.
First, because it contradicts the constitutional principle of the separation of powers , since the head of the executive branch (President of the Republic) enjoys the same legitimacy as the parliamentary body (elected by direct universal suffrage). This meeting is not in accordance with any legal rules governing the organization and functioning of Senegalese democracy, insofar as the separation and balance of powers are conceived and exercised through democratic procedures (preamble to the Senegalese Constitution).
Secondly, because politically , it makes no sense and demonstrates a clear inconsistency. Let's remember that since resigning as Secretary General of Pastef, the President of the Republic has become a simple party member with the same rights as any other member. No longer their political leader, on what legitimacy or authority can he base his decision to organize a political meeting, especially within the Presidential Palace? This leads directly to a blurring of lines and roles. It's becoming both worrying and laughable, as these kinds of actions are repeated. Apparently, a pattern develops when an act is repeated more than twice (after the meeting with Pastef's departmental coordinators, it's now the turn of Pastef's members of parliament).
The Palace is not a permanent headquarters for Pastef. Therefore, it is also the responsibility of the MPs who will take part in this meeting to explain themselves, when the time comes, to the Senegalese people.
Finally, this meeting would, once again, spell the end for the wind of change we so fervently promised to the Senegalese people. By repeatedly making the same mistakes and breaking our promises to break with "politicking" practices (what is commonly referred to as the "intangible record"), we will become discredited and inaudible.
Because the Senegalese will not only judge our results by our ability to keep our promises in the design, development, implementation and evaluation of public policies, but also, and above all, by our way of doing politics, managing funds and handling the symbols of the Republic.
These are nothing more and nothing less than the words of an activist who still hopes that it is never too late to do the right thing .
To pull themselves together while there is still time to act properly, and to do so in the direction of breaking with the "politicianic" practices of another era, would be a great service that they (President of the Republic, Pastef officials and deputies) could render us.
