Anniversaire : La chanson émouvante de Nder à Maître Wade
Like the international community, Senegal celebrated the 100th anniversary of former president Abdoulaye Wade, founding father of the Senegalese Democratic Party (PDS), on May 29th. A flood of tributes was paid to one of the emblematic figures of Senegalese political life, marked by both highs and lows.
Among these tributes was that of singer Alioune Mbaye Nder, through a beautiful song first released in 2007. This song was revived for the centenary to pay a vibrant tribute to the man known as "the last of the Mohicans." According to the singer, it's a way of "giving credit where credit is due." "Master Abdoulaye Wade did a great deal for Senegal despite his age. It is our duty to be grateful to him," he emphasized.
It is worth recalling that, still in this logic of celebrating a century of life for Abdoulaye Wade, a grand ceremony is planned for June 4 and 5, 2026 at the Grand Théâtre, in the presence of President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and the Senegalese political class, to honor Master Abdoulaye Wade.
