The Museum of Black Civilizations (MCN) has just enriched its collections with exceptional pieces. It announced the receipt of musical instruments donated by Senegalese artists Ismaël Lô and Baaba Maal, a gesture considered highly symbolic for the preservation of African musical heritage.
This donation was made during the official launch of the museum's 2026 program, themed "Black Music on Stage." The MCN welcomed the initiative of the two artists, seeing it as a strong commitment to the transmission of cultural heritage to future generations.
Ismaël Lô donated his very first harmonica, an instrument emblematic of his early days and international career. For his part, Baaba Maal donated the guitar used to record part of the soundtrack for the world-renowned film Black Panther, reports L'Observateur.
