Fêtes de fin d'année : Daara J Family tête d'affiche du Teranga Festival au Grand Théâtre
Dakar is preparing to live to the rhythm of the second edition of the Teranga Festival, an initiative of the Grand National Theatre, which will highlight Senegalese creativity with artists who are shaking up the artistic scene.
For this second edition, the legendary rap group, Daara J Family, is chosen as the headliner to give a sensation to the event in symbiosis with the participation of ten other artists from the new generation of Senegalese singers and from the sub-region.
After a successful first edition that featured reggae artists, the festival director, Serigne Fall Guèye, decided to promote cultural identity and indigenous thought through a show that reflects Senegalese culture and heritage.
Teranga Festival is an artistic narrative unfolding in several acts. The show will be a bold fusion. The first part will showcase ten young artists chosen for their ability to reinvent the traditional sounds of sabar, mbalax, and ndagga. Then, Daara J Family, a true institution of Senegalese music, will take to the stage for a performance that will bridge generations.

Their music, which draws on the poetry of Wolof and the rhythms of our lands, will be amplified by a sophisticated staging that will transform the esplanade of the Grand Théâtre into a first-rate performance space.
By offering a unique cultural experience for the end of the year, the goal of the Teranga Festival is to make Dakar an unmissable destination and a national celebration every year-end, after the ritual of fireworks at Independence Square.
The festival will kick off on December 30 with a series of panels and conferences on cultural and creative industries, featuring prominent professors and cultural professionals, followed on the 31st by a mega concert, to end in style with joy and jubilation.
