Musique : “1 SAMBA”, l’album qui marque le retour de Bideew Bou Bess
The music group Bideew Bou Bess makes its grand return to the Senegalese music scene on November 10th with the release of a new album entitled “1 SAMBA”. Composed of 11 tracks, this album blends several genres, from rap to mbalax, incorporating contemporary urban sounds. Rich in lyrics and melodies, the songs address themes such as national unity, African culture, and human relationships.
The album “ 1 SAMBA ” also pays a vibrant tribute to the late brothers Samba Mballo (Bathie) and Papis Mballo (Papis), iconic members of the group Gelongal. Bathie passed away on November 10, 2024, in Dakar, a loss that deeply saddened the Senegalese music and cultural world. This tragedy came six years after the death of Papis in 2018.
The album's release date was therefore not chosen at random. “1 SAMBA” is Bideew Bou Bess's first major work since the release of their album “Ndoumbélane.” This new production marks a significant milestone in the group's career.
Bideew Bou Bess is a Senegalese rap group composed of three brothers: Moctar, Beydi, and Ibrahim. Formed in 1994, they gained recognition in 1996 during a competition organized by the Ministry of Education. In 1999, they released their first cassette, titled “Ndékété Yo.” In 2000, the group contributed to the compilation album “Da Hop,” produced by Youssou Ndour's label, Jololi. They have since released several albums, including “Ndoumbélane” and “Original.”
