The Head of State participated in the roundtable of Heads of State organized during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, a major global event dedicated to sustainability issues. Bassirou Diomaye Faye delivered an opening address at a strategic side event focused on the preparatory process for the United Nations Water Conference, which Senegal and the United Arab Emirates will co-host in 2026.

On this occasion, the President reaffirmed a strong conviction: “Water is at the heart of human dignity, collective security, and sustainable development.” Faced with “worsening water stress, the effects of climate change, and inequalities in access to this vital resource,” he argued that “the issue of water must now occupy a central place in global climate action.”

This official visit has thus helped to consolidate a shared vision based on concrete action, international solidarity, and collective responsibility. "Dakar and Abu Dhabi intend to make the upcoming international events decisive moments, capable of leading to operational and lasting solutions for the benefit of people and future generations," the president declared.

Upon departing Abu Dhabi, the President of the Republic expressed his gratitude for the exceptional welcome he received from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. This welcome was marked by fraternal hospitality and high regard for the Senegalese delegation, reflecting the strength of the relations between Dakar and Abu Dhabi.

The discussions between the two parties highlighted a shared commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation to a strategic level, resolutely focused on the future.
