Fin de mission : les trois dates qui ont marqué l’ambassadrice de la Turquie durant ses trois ans au Sénégal
Having arrived in Senegal in February 2023, the Turkish ambassador to Senegal is concluding her mission this year. In an interview published this Thursday in Le Soleil, as she bids farewell, Nur Sagman stated that "these three years have allowed us to further strengthen relations between the two countries, consolidate them, and, above all, elevate their cooperation to a more strategic level."
Among the dates that marked her mission, Nur Sagman recalls the visits to her country by President Diomaye Faye on October 31, 2024, and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko on August 7, 2025. She will, however, never forget the third significant event: “When I arrived here on February 1, 2023, five days later, an earthquake struck Turkey, tragically causing thousands of casualties in a region with a population of one million. These moments brought me closer to Senegal, as the country welcomed me with open arms: its people, its government, and the entire nation expressed their solidarity with Turkey and our embassy.”
The diplomat was keen to "make special mention of the detachment of firefighters made up of 30 valiant young Senegalese who went to the most affected city, Hatay, to rescue the victims of this disaster and of the commander of the National Fire Brigade, Brigadier General Mamadou Ndoye [...]".
