La Police nationale rend hommage à ses retraités de 2025

The National Police honored its officers retiring in 2025 on Saturday, February 7, 2026. The solemn farewell ceremony was held in the presence of the Inspector General of Police, Mame Seydou Ndour, Director General of the National Police, and several administrative and police authorities.

This gathering provided an opportunity to pay a heartfelt tribute to the men and women who dedicated decades of their lives to serving public safety and the nation. The institution commended their commitment, professionalism, and sense of sacrifice while officially marking the end of their active careers.

"You have served the Nation with selflessness"

In his address, the Director General of the National Police expressed his gratitude to the retirees, highlighting the invaluable nature of their contribution.

"This is the moment for me to salute each of you in your journey, for all that you have accomplished within the National Police and beyond, for the Senegalese Nation," said Mame Seydou Ndour.

The police chief stressed the need to institutionalize this type of ceremony in order to perpetuate the culture of recognition.

"It is important for retirees to know that we continue to rely on their experience and knowledge accumulated throughout their careers. Their commitment has sometimes required immense sacrifices, made for the safety and well-being of the population," he added.

Acknowledging that the State cannot materially reward the efforts made, he nevertheless assured that the institution's gratitude remains intact, while also expressing his thanks to the families of the agents who are often affected by the constraints of the profession.

Solidarity and support for retirees

Speaking next, Daouda Gadiaga, Director of Human Resources for the National Police, emphasized the solidarity mechanisms in place for the benefit of officers, including those who have retired. He specifically mentioned the deductions made within the framework of the Police's social welfare programs, clarifying that these are carried out within a legal and regulatory framework in accordance with personnel regulations.

"All National Police officers, including retirees, are members of this organization. We invite those who are not yet members to contact the Human Resources Department to learn about the membership procedures and benefits," he explained.

Mr. Gadiaga reaffirmed the institution's commitment to maintaining solidarity and support towards former employees, even after their retirement.

A page is turned, but honor remains.

This farewell ceremony marks an important milestone in the professional lives of retirees, but also in the lives of the National Police, which reaffirms through this act its commitment to preserving the memory, honor and dignity of those who served under its banner.
