Thiès - Gestion des ressources extractives : Les acteurs discutent des moyens de renforcer la transparence et la responsabilité
The presentation of the main results of the 2024 report as well as those of the recent EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) validation of Senegal is the subject of a conclave bringing together, this Wednesday, May 13, 2026, in Thiès, several actors to discuss ways to strengthen transparency and accountability in the management of extractive resources.
The day was primarily marked by a roundtable discussion on transparency and accountability in Senegal's extractive sector, chaired by the president of Senegal's national EITI committee, Mr. Thialy Faye. It saw the participation of various stakeholders, including public administration institutions, businesses, civil society, local elected officials, and communities.

Initiated by CAJUST (Active Citizens for Social Justice), a network of citizens, including young people and women, committed to promoting social justice, the objective of this day of transparency is to strengthen the capacities and powers of influence of citizens in order to promote social justice in the governance of natural resources and climate change.
This was an opportunity for Ms. Marième Soda Mbacké, Executive Director of CAJUST, to reiterate that "our strategic axes revolve around three main pillars, namely environmental and climate justice; economic and fiscal justice; and gender justice and equity."
