As part of its policy of environmental management and improvement of the living environment of the population, the City of Rufisque continues its actions in favor of sanitation and urban reforestation "Rufisque, green and healthy city". This Wednesday, August 27, 2025, a ceremony to hand over plants and pipes to local associations was initiated by the Department of Planning and Transferred Skills and the Municipal Liquid Sanitation Program (PALM) in order to support the ecological and community initiatives of 46 associations of Rufisque.

A total of 800 plants and 480 pipes (200/120) were distributed at the request of stakeholders spread across the three municipalities of Rufisque.

The species concerned are coconut palms, flamboyant trees and Cordias.

The Mayor of the City of Rufisque, who presided over the ceremony, welcomed the interest and commitment of the population to a healthy living environment.

He also invited them to differentiate between wastewater, greywater and household water to be discharged into the installed sanitation networks.

"The 'Rufisque, Green City' program allows us to strengthen our relationships with communities," Dr. Oumar Cissé immediately stated. He continued: "I am delighted to see that these different programs fit perfectly with the PDUD's priorities. Just like PASIC and the other programs, PALM is the lever that will address the sanitation issue in Rufisque. We have experienced this with the construction of the East Canal outlet, the Capec Canal, and Roukhou Teugue Canal. The same is true for reforestation, which helps reduce flooding. To put it simply, the rebirth of Rufisque 2022-2032 is already a done deal."
