Médina : Azoura Fall frôle le lynchage après un accident devant une mosquée
Seneweb has learned more about the circumstances of the accident in the Medina district. According to our sources, Azoura Fall is accused of having driven his car into the security barrier of a mosque before injuring a Guinean taxi driver. Faced with the anger of local residents who attempted to lynch him, the Pastef activist was quickly taken inside the mosque for safety before the arrival of law enforcement.
A refusal to comply that turns into tragedy
This Tuesday, around 4:40 a.m., the Medina district police station was alerted to an accident on Malick Sy Avenue. Reports also indicated that an angry crowd was threatening to physically attack Assane Gueye, better known as Azoura Fall. According to witness statements gathered by police at the scene, Azoura Fall, driving a Golf, allegedly crashed into the security barrier after security personnel from the Suna Malick mosque asked him to turn around due to worshippers praying in the roadway.
One slightly injured victim and an angry mob
During his maneuvers, the driver struck S. Barry, a 20-year-old Guinean taxi driver residing in the Medina neighborhood. While the victim initially writhed in pain in his left leg, emergency responders later determined that he only had scratches. Highly angered by the scene, local residents attempted to violently attack Azoura Fall. He was narrowly pulled from the crowd and taken inside the mosque, where he was kept safe until the police arrived.
The case is now in the hands of the Accidents Section.
Firefighters, who arrived quickly on the scene, evacuated the injured man to a medical facility. As for the suspect, the case has been handed over to the Accident Investigation Unit of the Traffic Division at the Dakar Central Police Station. Azoura Fall was taken to the central police station for questioning. However, as of the time of publication, around 9:00 AM, he had not yet been formally arrested.
