Accusation de viol : Achraf Hakimi sort du silence
PSG and Morocco defender Achraf Hakimi, accused of rape by a woman and against whom a trial has been requested, has denounced a "lie" and said he has "peace of mind."
"I know that what I have been accused of is a lie," the Moroccan international said during an interview for the show "Clique" on Canal+, an excerpt of which was broadcast on Wednesday evening.
"I know I haven't done anything and I would never do that," continued the 26-year-old, who insisted he had "always been at the disposal of the police."
"Today, I have peace of mind (...) We hope that the truth will come out soon," assured Mr. Hakimi, who answered Mouloud Achour's questions in Spanish.
On August 1, the Nanterre prosecutor's office requested that the footballer be referred to the Hauts-de-Seine departmental criminal court for the rape of a young woman in February 2023.
The latter claims to have been subjected to non-consensual touching and then rape at the home of Mr. Hakimi, whom she had met on the social network Instagram.
It is now up to an investigating judge to decide whether or not a trial should take place.
In his interview with "Clique", Achraf Hakimi mentioned the "blackmail" to which professional footballers are frequently exposed, an argument dismissed by the civil party's lawyer, Rachel-Flore Pardo.
"The investigation and the judicial inquiry have made it possible to gather all the elements necessary to characterize the crime of rape suffered by my client," the lawyer told AFP on Thursday.
"Nothing in this case suggests any attempt at blackmail," added Mr. Pardo.
According to her, "Mr. Hakimi is trying to light a counter-fire that we are used to in cases of sexual violence. But it is not holding."
PSG star Achraf Hakimi has been elected vice-captain of the club according to a source close to the dressing room, a role he already held last season.
Asked at a press conference on Saturday whether this role was problematic due to a possible trial, coach Luis Enrique declined to answer.
