The Central Office for the Repression of Illicit Drug Trafficking (OCRTIS) dismantled a local network for trafficking and selling Indian hemp this weekend in Diacounda, in the department of Bounkiling (Sedhiou region).
Following precise intelligence, the regional narcotics brigade in Sédhiou targeted the owner of a popular bar, suspected of using his business as a front. On Saturday, April 25, 2026, a meticulous undercover operation led to the arrest of the suspect, a 20-year-old man, in possession of 4 kg of marijuana. A search of his room uncovered an additional 1 kg, bringing the total drug seizure to 5 kg.
Brought before the prosecutor's office on Monday, the accused is now being prosecuted for criminal association and domestic drug trafficking.
This successful operation marks a crucial step in the fight against cross-border and local crime in the Sédhiou region.
